L’Oreal acquires the British Medik8 British skin care brand, its owner, the private equity company based in Great Britain, said on Monday, increasing the offer of the French cosmetics giant in the market for care of rapidly growing dermatological skin. The size of the agreement was not disclosed. Medik8 focuses on the cream and anti-aging serums based on vitamin A.

“The partnership with L’Oreal will allow Medik8 to deepen its presence in existing markets and to expand globally. As part of the transaction, the inflexion will maintain a minority participation in the Medik8,” said the private equity company in a note.

The dermatological division of Beauty of L’Oreal, which includes important brands such as Cerave, Roche-Posay and Skinceuticals, has been its faster growth in recent years, reaching revenues of 7 billion euros ($ 7.99 billion) last year, after having cultivated almost 10% the year before.

The business, which also has the highest profit margin among its four divisions, has increased the growing interest of consumers for the products supported by science, although growth has recently slowed down due to the growing competition.
