Overall, the intelligent speakers based on Google and Amazon are the way to go, even if we prefer Google’s ecosystem compared to Amazon’s. The Amazon speaker range is wider, but our favorite models are still by Google, including the Google Nest Audio ($ 75) For an intelligent speaker (especially if you want a stereo sound and two speakers at an excellent price) and the Google Nest Hub Max ($ 230) For an intelligent display. Amazon makes our favorite speakers, however, in particular the fifth generation Amazon Echo Dot ($ 50).

Updated 2025: we have reorganized this guide and his choices.
Our favorite intelligent speaker
Overall, Google Assistant is our intelligent and helping speaker of choice, so it is not surprising that the audio Nest (8/10, wired advice) is our overall choice. It has a compact shape, similar to a pillow and a large sound that will easily fill small and medium -sized rooms. We really like to use two nests as a stereo couple because they combine to offer some of the best audio qualities that you can get in an intelligent speaker for $ 200.
As with all Google Assistant devices: you can ask the Audio Nest to set timer, play music or tell you time and you can ask him anything you will look for Google. The Google Home App simplifies the combination of the speakers with any other intelligent device to be scored of Google you have. Google’s ecosystem is overall easy to use and easy to integrate into tons of other products, both by Google and others.
It connects to Google Assistant.
★ If you prefer Alexa: THE Echo of fourth generation ($ 100) It is Amazon’s equivalent of this device. It is a little shorter but wider, going for a round design on the audio of the highest nest. It has a fantastic sound quality and great skills and it is a good choice if you prefer Alexa in your home. There have been some changes with Alexa and there will be a new version of the assistant available early for everyone, read more in our section What about Alexa+?
The best intelligent display
I love an intelligent display, because I love the option to use voice commands to control my intelligent home or a touch of the finger. Nest Hub Max (8/10, Wired recommended) is my favorite because it also acts as a splendid digital photo frame. It does an excellent job that shows me all types of images since I am a Google photo user, but even if you are not actively supporting everything to Google’s photos like me, it is easy to create and add to the albums to be displayed on the 10 -inch screen.
The Max Hub is also easy to use to check your smart house, allowing you to adjust the lights with a tap or give the bell maintain on your device. It has an integrated hub, so intelligent home devices can connect to it for configuration and supports the subject on thread and wi-fi. It also has a surprisingly solid sound for its speakers and thin profile, in particular for casual listening sessions in the kitchen or to set the atmosphere during the Dungeons and Dragons sessions.
It connects to Google Assistant.
★ If you prefer an Alexa display: Amazon has a crazy borderline number of intelligent displays, but my favorite is easy to appoint: the Echo Show 8 ($ 150). The 8 -inch screen is large enough for everything you could use and contains a good speaker and has an integrated hub compatible with zigbee, matter and thread. The larger dimensions are too large for any regular home, unless you are an intelligent drug addict and you are not sure that you will put a 21 -inch intelligent display to use.
Best smart speaker of the budget
This small speaker is my favorite Amazon offer. The small echo point is in its fifth generation (you could remember the original, which looked like a hockey disc) and this latest model has a fantastic sound quality for a small speaker so small. It does everything that the larger speakers can do, only in a smaller form. It is a perfect choice to sneak into an office or a dormitory room, or even in a bathroom if you know you want to make music in the shower. I also love the Point with watch ($ 54) Version that is a little more and includes a simple digital clock: it is currently available, but its availability has been rare this year.
It connects to Amazon.
