AVO released an update on 11 March. In which there was an increase in gas emissions. This indicates that the fresh magma has gone into the layer below the mount spur. This assessed the possibility of explosion in the near future. The Observatory clarified that the exact time of any explosion could not be stated yet. The Observatory has warned that the level of warning can be increased if there is a signal of further increase in the volcano.
AVO says that its explosion may lead to possible consequences. This may include frequent seismic shocks, increase in gas emissions, etc. If the explosion is large then possible hazards can cause ash clouds affecting flights, ash rain may occur in the surrounding areas, as well as the flow of mud known as pyrocklastic flows and lahhar is included in these dangers. Earlier in the volcano, there was an explosion in 1992. Due to that explosion, a large amount of ash fell here and air services in the area were affected.
