Hyundai took their very successful clay and sculpted an electric version. Both vehicles bring the same silhouette, but unique design identities with front design and dedicated wheels. Although it is not confirmed, Kia could take a similar strategy and develop an electric version of SELTOS with its own unique design elements.
It will be based on 2026 SELTOS and not on the current model. The espionage shots of the next Seltos have packed two different bands under its camouflage, as highlighted by Thindlauto. This strongly suggests that Kia could work on an electrical counterpart, similar to what Hyundai did with Crete. Let’s take a closer look.

2026 Kia Self spied on
At least in India, Kia has never had a sportier version of its vehicles with dedicated design elements such as Hyundai n Line. Kia had the X line, which was more a difference in finishing of the paint and some others and nowhere close to what Hyundai has made with Nine, which offers profound changes to design and updates to mechanical components.
So, when the next 2026 Self is preparing two different front groups, the primary speculation was that there could be an electric version of Self. The differences between the two bands are quite evident, as can be seen with the salient points outlined by Kindlauto. The alloy wheels are also different with these, further fueling this speculation.

Both versions seem to have a front charging door and only one of them can be functional. The main differences can be observed in the design of the bumper and in the design of the alloy wheels. Both vehicles were spied on by testing together and were focused in the same position. Inside, there may be some changes to the design with the EV version with the gear selector behind the steering wheel and others.
Same engine as Crete Electric?
Powering this vehicle could be the same battery and Crete Electric engines. Or a 42 kWh or 51.4 kWh battery package combined with a single FWD electric motor that can generate up to 169 HP of peak power, promising a 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.9 seconds. In Crete Electric, the maximum promise range is 473 km with a single charge.

2026 Kia Selos has been hypothesized to also offer an option of hybrid propulsion, which will keep under control of the mariuses Suzuki and Toyota. Kia India is working to launch Carens Clavis EV in July 2025, which can present the same Crete Electric engines.
